Homeland Security Implements ‘OPERATION RAILSAFE’ in Wake of Terror Threats

Operation RAILSAFE To Begin Friday, Amtrak to hold planned high-security exercise


WASHINGTON – According to a Homeland Security official, the national rail system Amtrak will be increasing security beginning Friday for a planned exercise that is not related to the Europe threat. The exercise, known as operation RAILSAFE, often takes plan over holidays when rail travel is up.

Daniel Kaniewski, Deputy Director of George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute, sat down with us during the FOX 5 News at 5 to discuss the recent terror concerns.
