BP Texas Refinery Had Huge Toxic Release Just Before Gulf Blowout

These included 17,000 pounds of benzene, a known carcinogen; 37,000 pounds of nitrogen oxides, which contribute to respiratory problems; and 186,000 pounds of carbon monoxide. -
Police detained photographer for taking pictures of BP’s Texas City Refinery

Rosenfield said he was followed by a BP employee in a truck after taking the picture and blocked by two police cars when he pulled into a gas station. -

Study Finds Illegal Immigration Costs U.S. $113 Billion a Year
